American Ballet Theatre’s Harlequinade is the latest reimagining of a dance classic by the great choreographer Alexei Ratmansky. First performed in 1900, his stunning new vision for our time arrives Jan 17 – 20 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, CA. The next show’s production will be May 13-May 18 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
Growing up as a dancer taking ballet I fondly remember all of the frilly tutus and costumes. There are so many interpretations of tulle skirts no now available and that are in fashion.
I enjoyed putting together two ballerina inspired looks. One look features a feminine tulle skirt paired with a wrapped sweater top and lace up Sam Edelman Yardley Sandal that reminds me of a ballerina’s rehearsal sweater, tulle skirt and lace up pointe shoes. I added some sparkle with a jeweled statement necklace and retired Swarvoski pin I got from Poshmark. Another look is a lavender tulle skirt dress that was a style choice to be a nod to some of the costumes in Harlequinade. I love wearing my I.N.C. Women’s Reesie Rhinestone Bow Evening Sandals that I have had in my closet to add an extra special touch.
If you are looking for even more ballet to enjoy look out for Matthew Bourne’s production of Cinderella from February 5- March 10th at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles. Click here to purchase tickets.
