Treating your body kindly is like giving a hug to yourself! I am always on the lookout for healthy alternatives to some favorite foods. I am so thankful for items that are good to your gut and also taste delicious! Treat yourself and a friend to a non-dairy ice cream and give an actual hug too.
A physical hug can help boost happiness, self-esteem, safety, trust and relaxation. I am so glad there are places where I can still enjoy ice cream and relax knowing what is in it. Below are the top five non-dairy and gluten free ice cream options.

Experience: Hug Life serves up non-dairy ice cream in numerous flavors! A helpful staff member will help you sample and choose the right ice cream for you. You can visually see each ice cream through the glass case that is labeled with icons to show which flavors contain gluten and which contain nuts. When in doubt ask about it. Get your favorite flavors as scoops or in a gluten-free and dairy-free cone.
Flavors: Hug Life offers your classics and specialty flavors. Some of the flavors that stand out to me are the chocolate, early great (premium earl grey tea), classic strawberry, vanilla bean, sesame street (roasted black sesame with activated charcoal and a hint of dark chocolate) and green golbin (mint and chocolate chip.) All of the flavors that I listed are vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and of course dairy-free. Please note that many of the bases are a combination of coconut and soy so the majority of the flavors are not soy free.

Experience: Kippy’s is fun, healthy and affordable! Enjoy non-dairy frozen treats made with organic coconut cream. Kippy Miller has created delicious ice creams made with only 5 ingredients or less that are listed as being all dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, non-GMO, and nut-free. Bases are made with raw coconut cream and organic honey (or dates for vegan friends). The ice cream is made by hand in-house daily. Delivery available.
Flavors: Enjoy the classics and seasonal flavors. My favorite is the coconut honey. You can also try the chocolate chip, strawberry cream, lemon cream, cinnamon or chocolate or vanilla date (these are vegan), orange cream and kosmic matcha. Their super-food toppings are available for added creativity and fun that are also gluten free and organic.
I just posted a suggestion for an all white bright brunch and featured Kippy’s coconut honey flavor that is a beautiful white scoop.

Experience: Cocobella Creamery is on a mission to “make dairy-free delicious.” They specialize in making ice cream from scratch that is allergen friendly. The ice cream base is made with coconut milk, cane sugar (therefore this is not sugar free) and vanilla. All flavors are 100% vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and dairy-free according to the website. Flavors that contain soy are marked on the menu. Their ice cream creations are bright, whimsical and colorful. Get a scoop or a gluten-free waffle cone that is made in house.
Flavors: Traditional flavors include vanilla and special flavors like unicorn magic (Pink vanilla with marshmallows, GF animal crackers, and rainbow sprinkles (contains soy)). Other flavors include strawberry fields, toasted s’mores, sunbutter and jelly etc. The menu also offers floats, custom ice cream cakes and signature fun sundaes.

Their dessert menu offers KindKreme – dairy-free and gluten-free ice cream. Enjoy it by the scoop either in a requested gluten free cone or cup. You can pair it with a house-made dessert such as a gluten-free brownie or as an icekreme sandwich. The shakes are made exclusively with KindKreme IceKreme.
Flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Coffee Chip, Coconut Chip, and a Vacation flavor (banana and coconut with chocolate swirl)
Toppings ($1 each): Chocolate chips, goji berries, hemp seeds, coconut flakes, raw cacao nibs, almonds, fresh fruit, salted caramel and chocolate syrup
Experience: If you cannot make it to get dairy-free ice cream freshly made then you might want to look out for Halo Top’s ice cream in your market sold by the pint. Search the website’s Where to Buy feature. You could also visit the in person scoop shops but please be advised that the only non-dairy options in person are the non-dairy chocolate and non-dairy cookie dough. I am not sure if these are vegan so proceed with caution.
