A Sugar Plum Fairy
Nutcracker

This holiday season experience the magical enchanting ballet of The Nutcracker set to Tchaikovsky’s famous music score with memorable melodies. Journey with Clara from a lavish Christmas party to the land of the Snowflakes. Be swept away as she finds herself immersed in a dream watching the snowflakes dance and her nutcracker prince come to life. Be dazzled along the way in a delectable adventure with various dancing characters from the land of the Sweets.

This timeless tale can be seen at various venues from large to a smaller immersive experience throughout Southern California at various price ranges. Misty Copeland of the famed American Ballet Theatre headlines an all-star cast at Segerstrom Center of the Arts (SCFTA) in Costa Mesa, Ca. The perfect place to stay if you are out of town or go for a pre-show dinner is the Avenue of the Art Hotel and the Silver Trumpet Restaurant & Bar right across from SCFTA.

One of the most iconic dance moments of the Nutcracker ballet features the Sugar Plum Fairy. In a modern-day fashion homage to the Sugar Plum Fairy I am featuring this festive plum jumpsuit from Aqua at Bloomingdales. The rich regal color is a stand out for this holiday season. This affordable jumpsuit is a great alternative to a dress to keep your legs warm and features ruching at the pant hemlines. Other stylish details include the scalloped neckline and fitted bodice.

The stylish Avenue of the Arts Hotel is awaiting you for the Holidays – beautifully decorated in shades of plum, lavender and mauve. This boutique hotel offers unparalleled customer service from the staff promptly greeting you at your arrival and opening the glass doors for you. The ambiance speaks modern elegance with chic details. The stylish rooms are immaculate and many are facing the view of the lake. Take a relaxing stroll outside of the hotel along a tree long path with expansive views of the lake. This property is beautifully landscaped and maintained for your enjoyment and pleasure.

The Silver Trumpet Restaurant & Bar  is conveniently located across the street from the performing arts center and serves delicious food in a beautiful setting. There are various seating configurations adorned with details such as decorative pillows for your comfort. Dine on the outdoor patio while enjoying the fire pits, heat lamps and white furniture. The attentive wait staff will ask you if you are dining prior to your show to make sure you are served with ample time to make your showtime.

I love that the menu they give you in person is clearly labeled with gluten free options. I usually get the cobb salad with chopped chicken breast. The presentation is beautiful and it is delicious. For a healthy alternative swap out the blue cheese dressing for olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Other healthy dining suggestions are the mesquite-grilled salmon perfectly cooked to perfection or the additional side of asparagus or rainbow cauiflower.

Description: Los Angeles Ballet’s Holiday Production of The Nutcracker 2019

Los Angeles Ballet’s The Nutcracker is the city’s own holiday tradition, perfect for celebrating the season. Set to Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, you will be captivated as Clara and her beloved Nutcracker battle a most memorable Mouse King, encounter dancing Snowflakes and travel to the Palace of the Dolls.

Los Angeles Ballet stays true to the traditions of the holiday story with some surprises! This production is set in 1912 Los Angeles. Throughout the five scenes in two acts you will find hints and tastes of Southern California – a Spanish style home, calla lilies, bougainvillea, the snowy forests of the Sierras, Venice archways, a moonlit Pacific Ocean and more! Adding to the enchantment of The Nutcracker, LAB will perform again with the Los Angeles Ballet Orchestra at Dolby Theatre for four performances from December 20th through December 24th.

DON’T JUST SEE THE NUTCRACKER, LIVE IT.
There is a mystery at the heart of The Nutcracker.
To find it, follow ACB inside a land of wonder for all five of your senses in the world’s first immersive Nutcracker.

American Contemporary Ballet’s The Nutcracker Suite is a Spielbergian fantasy that suspends both its heroine and audience in a magical snow globe of dance, music and mysterious delights too enchanting to leave behind, while also questioning whether any of us can remain in the Land of Sweets forever. Regardless of the answer, the company has had to increase performances of the world’s first immersive ‘Nutcracker’ every year since its 2017 premiere to meet the demand of those who’d like to visit, if only for one wonder-filled hour.”

*Enjoy festive pre- or post-show dining and cocktails at Hotel Indigo right across the plaza from ACB, and receive a 15% discount at their Metropole Kitchen, Metropole Bar or 18 Social lounge when you present your Nutcracker ticket confirmation.
